  • New, just ordered a 2019

Just ordered a new 2019 CrownLine 205 SS to replace our old 1995 Crownline 18' 4.3L.
Dealer is telling me a June delivery so I have a wait ahead of me. We are getting the Moonstone Sterling.

Question, its coming with a 4.5L 200hp motor and I have not drove or road in a boat with this motor and wonder how the power is on it and top speeds ? low end ? and how it compares to the 4.3L in my 95 . Any info would be great on how the boat handles.

Any other info about the new CrownLine boats would be great as well as its been awhile since I bought the 95.

    Thanks.

Welcome aboard. Post a picture of the brochure you got from the dealer, that will work.

Btw, i would drop in a 4.5L to replace my 4.3 when i blow it up. Hope to hear more!

Its going to look just like this one.

I had been waiting for the KC boat show so we could go see alot of different boats at once and just kept going back to the 205 SS.
After having my 95 since new with no problems it was easy tp go back to Crownline again.

One question, Dealer said it would have a 200hp motor but my brochure states a 250hp motor ? did I just hear him wrong maybe.
Guess when I talk to him next week I will find out for sure, just would like the 250hp more.

Here is a link to your 200hp power plant.

I think Steve on here has that engine and he really liked it. I heard a bunch of rental fleets have it also with no issues.

They actually have a 200HP AND 250HP version of this engine. I would make sure your dealer knows and orders the version you want. Personally, I would opt for the 250 if you are looking for an upgrade. The 200 is probably close to your old 4.3 performance wise. Merc touts the 250HP 4.5 as a replacement for old 5.0 MPI applications.

It was actually on the page you linked Chad. Down at the bottom you could choose or even compare between the two engines.

For the record, I think 200 HP in a bow rider is pretty low, especially if you are going to be having a larger group or water sports. 250 HP would be better, but in my book, 300 HP would be a minimum.

Sounds like you have plenty of experience with your current boat, so you likely have a good idea what you are in for. I would just hate to be in a position after taking delivery to have a boat that doesn't live up to expectations.

Good luck with the new boat.

Yeah I am going to bring this up as I would rather have the 250hp motor.
My current 18" CL with the 4.3 190hp will run 45 mph plus on smooth water but just worried that the larger heavier boat wont preform as well from out of the hole to topend with only 10hp more.

Anyone know what kinda of money difference between the two motors migjt be ?
