    Trailer bounce

I am having a few issues towing my new 285SS. So far, I have only been needed to tow around town so now issues. I have a 2014 F150 super crew. I have no problem with pulling power, I can accelerate awesome. The issue is with the trailer bouncing when I get up to 70 MPH. The boat does squat the truck quite a bit, do I tried a higher receiver. The trailer was exactly level when I made this change. It did not fix the bounce. With the squat that I have, I assume that I have plenty of tongue weight. I have ordered a set of air bags, Airlift 2000, that I will install tomorrow. I am hoping this solves the issue. I am wondering if the fact that I added a level kit and bigger tires are adding to my issues?

Has anyone else had this issue? Headed to Table Rock Sat, so I need to get this figured out ASAP.

    thanks!

Sounds like you have tires out of balance to me. I put my 270 on my F150 (lifted and on 35s) and I don't have any issues. Rides nice and smooth.

Really stupid question Scott but does the trailer sway at all? Im assuming no with as much tongue weight as you have squating your truck down but just curious. One of my 225s I had I could not pull it over 73 because at that point it would start to sway. My boat is probably at least 1000 lighter than yours at 4300 dry but I have never had an issue with pulling with lifted trucks. Another stupid question but have you checked air pressure on the trailer tires?

Here is my setup, I added SuperSprings to help with the sag but you get the idea. It sits about 1.5" higher in the back when unloaded, but it'll settle in after a few loads, or so they say.

I got a little bounce towing my 266BR and discovered tire inflation was off.
A couple tires were a little low and one was about 5lbs over.
Made sure all were the same and no other issues.

What brand of trailer do you have? Could the trailer be flexing and causing it. Is it a box channel or a C channel frame?

No sway at all. I need to check tire pressure, but the are not visibly low.

What trailer tires do you have? I am shocked at the difference putting new tires did for my trailer.

HMM, that is a cheap fix for sure.

Its a Heritage. The back of the boat is even with the end of the bunks as well so the position of the boat should not be an issue.

Maybe it needs more tongue weight.

I thought that at first, so i tried a shorter draw bar. It just squatted the truck more and didn't fix the issue.

Yea that's a box style trailer so it's prob not flexing then. Maybe heavier load range tires too.

Rough guess I'd say need at least 800#. I always heard too little tongue wt caused sway. Not sure about the hopping. ST tires are supposed to be 65mph max no?

Tires not inflated properly or out of balance. Many trailer wheels/tires at not balanced at all from the factory. Also could have one separating.
