  • Fuel flow diagram to fix hard start

Hello looking for help on fuel problem for my boat.

Previous to this year, motor would start cold with a couple pumps right away, and when warmed up, i could barely bump the starter, and vroom! Instant satisfaction.

this year, since changing fuel filter and fluids, takes much longer cranking to get it going when cold. And when warm or hot, after sitting for more than 5 minutes, takes much more time to start. If i turn it off, and restart within 1 minute, instant satisfaction again like normal.

engineer brother (mechanical type), says a ball valve and or backflow spring is stuck. Been searching for a week, aint found shit! Called my dealer, and he said a ball valve is in the gas tank, letting all fuel siphon back into the tank.

any input, wanna fix before i buy a new starter in a couple months. Thanks!

question, look at electric fuel pump after fuel filter, or in the carb, or tank for stop valve?
