  • Winter Projects from Downunder

Now that the snows falling on the mountains I thought it would be a good time to do a few jobs on the boat. Ideally I'd like to get these done:
    • Battery Isolator Switch
    • Transom Trim Switch
    • Smart Tabs
    • 100 hour service

And if I can get away with it
    • Light bar on tower or spotlight mount
    • Rear speakers for the stereo
    • Couple of LED strips

Of course started with the simple Battery Isolater switch only to drop the nut off the battery terminal under the engine 5mins in
After a bit of swearing and a deep breath... tried to reach in and knocked the bolt in after it
    Not a good start.
    Hmmm... "That escalated quickly"

    Impromptu 1AWG crimper..

Any advice/warnings/encouragement/feedback much appreciated. This is the first time I've worked on anything other than a small tinny with OB.

Are you using a switch or an isolator? I have been looking at an ACR for my setup.

I've only got a single battery so just an on/off switch. Pretty sure it's BEP branded.

Hi Andy, whereabouts are you based? If you're in SE Melbourne happy to pop round and offer a hand.

Thanks James, I'm Outer Eastern Suburbs.
I'm really just jumping into the boat whenever I have a free minute at the moment. Lot's of little bits here and there in between feeding/chasing/cleaning kids.

Got bit more done. Installed Transom Trim Switch (Quicksilver 87 815200A02)
            Before.

              SMART tabs install

Time for a winter project wrap up. Got the SMART tabs installed:

I really don't like drilling into the hull

              Hope I've used enough sealant!

more updates all at once cause I'm slack!

Had a bit of help with the 100hr service

                Isolater switch is now in!

Little trip to the trailer place and I now have a swing away drawbar. I really can't express how excited I am about this mod, it's going to save me a huge amount of time when packing down the boat. Oh, and breaks that work are a plus...

                Glad that tower folds down...

Great idea with the drawbar. Mine with Same trailer just fits into the garage and this would give me back a little room. Can I ask where you got it done and how much? Also, what time is it going to save you packing down?

Got it done for about $700 at Trailer Repair Centre Braeside.
My issue was getting the boat back into the shed. Going in it has about 5mm each side. Then the shed is only 6m deep so I have to spend ages moving it backwards and forwards on the jockey wheel to get it just in the right spot diagonally so it fits. Should be able to just back it in now!

We were out last weekend... even ended up with pinkish feet and shoulders from forgetting the routine.
