Their is a little oil pressure sending unit that controls the fuel pump. No oil pressure from a bad sending unit no juice for the pump. Its a little 5 to 10 dollar part........it worth a check.

Their is also an oil sending unit that operates the oil pressure gage its usually a little different looking than just the on off switch but your engine should have both.....of course I could be wrong about VP my knowledge is more on Merc.

Just a simple thing, but make sure you check your kill switch (assuming you have one). The engine will turn over, but not start if it is not engaged.
